Default Emergency tax

My boy has recently joined her majesties forces and is getting battered with an emergency tax code, what is the best way for him to get of it do you reckon?

Quickest way is to get the current employer P45 from previous company.

Hi Parin

Unfortunately its his first real employment since leaving education, what I have gotten him to to do is to go and talk to the army pay masters to get some advice

If you contact your tax office they should be able to issue you with a code asap. The other way as you mentioned is by going to the payroll dept. who can contact the tax office on your behalf. Either way, at the end of the tax year he should get a rebate if too much tax was paid whist on the emergency code.
