Default Buying Email Lists

Are there any reputable companies selling lists out there. Or is this still a very greay area with the increased volumes in spamming?

Hi Bob,
Previously I have used a company called Marketing File. I thought they were excellent, espically their website where you could really drill down to pinpoint the category of list you required.

Hi Jim,
What was the response rate for your campaign? I'm quite sceptical of buying lists, as Bob mentioned I feel that most email marketing is trashed as SPAM.

There are good lists out there, but with changes to spam regulations over the world the only safe list is your own list generated with opt-in (double opt-in prefered).

If you do buy a list make sure you have a unsubscribe that works, also try and buy a list as close to your target market as possible, its daft buying a general list if your trying to target women ages 18-24.

Even if you get lists that are tailored to your needs, do they actually work? I again like many other i know pretty much delete messages from unknown sources.

The thing about email marketing its the blunderbus effect, shoot off loads of email to a wide group of people the cost is pretty much the same to send 1 email as 1000, so even if you get 1 sale out 1000 it can be cost effective.

Thats the beauty of making your own opt-in lists, these people have already said "You know what I'm interested in what you have to say (or rather sell)", get some good copy, get an interesting product (to you niche) and yes email marketing can work.

What most people see are the negative, cheap pills for making you stay able longer or for a longer todger etc, like anything used properly to a targetted audience it can work wonders.

The problem with using email lists is that you do not have permission from the email account owners to send them emails in which you promote your products or services. You could therefor then be considered as a spammer.

I wanted to ask the same question, were your campaigns successful? I have heard about the possibility of buying email lists, but I was put off by the idea of sending emails to people whom I don't know and who would probably consider me a spammer...

A close friend of mine bought some email lists and he send out mass emails to all these email contacts. He actually got into some legal trouble over it as I would advice for you not to go this way.
