Advertising in Local Mags

Has anyone advertised in local magazines? I have recently been approached by a few and dont really know what to do.

I know at the moment the cafe is selling itself, but was thinking of advertising as more of a PR excercise.

I was asked also if one a food critic fro one of these mags could come and review, which worries me a bit (not alot as im very confident in our operation).

Any opinions/experiences waould be greatly appreciated.

Alot of my ads are placed in local newspapers and magazines. They are great as you saidfor raising your profile in the local community, and helps you get to know the press a little whose postive influence can be a massive help.

It depends on the type of product or service that you are selling. If you are running a food and beverage establishment then local magazines could definitely improve your turnover.
