Default Gordons banking reforms

In the wake of Nortern Rock Gordon has announced new laws to reform the UK banking system

here you go:

The Government said that the legislative reform would broadly seek to:

1. Be understood by customers and give them confidence that their money is protected by a guarantee that could be quickly put in place if necessary.

2. Achieve wider market confidence through transparency about the framework (including its funding) that would operate if a disruption to banking services occurred.

3. Ensure that banks in trouble can continue to provide normal services to customers while an orderly transition to an alternative banking provider is made.

4. Protect taxpayers' interest and impose "an appropriate sharing of costs between all parties".
