Default Franchising

Hi,
Im looking at a Subway franchise. I have run my own operation until now, but subway seems quite lucrative. Has anyone had experiences with franchising, or better still a subway franchise.

Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark,
From the info you gave in your introduction your cafe has been a great success, so I am interested in why you are looking at franchising? Have you thought about creating a strong brand around your current cafe?
Regards
Parin

Hello Mark,
Have you ever thought of selling international phone cards or sim cards from your cafes. There are some quite good margins to be made. But I suppose it depends on your trade. i.e if you have a lot of overseas workmen coming in then you could do quite well.

Hi Parin,
Have thought about opening another branch with the same concept but there are some issues, main ones being:

1. We are a cafe - successful i think because of the quality of food and excellent service combined with clean friendly atmosphere. How do i brand this?

2. Cost of branding - if we go all out on creating a brand its not going to be cheap and with no guarantee, whereas a franchise has had the effort put in already (i take on board less profits) so risk is lessened.

I would love to do it on my own, but dont think I can create a brand for a cafe selling chips, sausages and beans.

Regards
Mark

I understand your point, but all the high street chains past and current had to start somewhere. No doubt there would have been 1000's of failures for every big success but if you think you have a winning formula so will others...
