Default Slander and Libel on Forums

Hi Folks,
Need to ask for some free legal advice from anyone in the know legally.

As you know we are a public business forum here. One of our concerns is what happens when one person or company potentially slanders or makes libelous comments about another person on company. Where do we stand legally and more importantly where would our members stand.

I expect there will be a lot of referrals for business on this forum. And on the flipside there will be a lot of "stay away from comapny X because of xyz reasons..."

We don't want to delete this stuff as it could be highly valuable to us and our members. But we also don't want to put ourselves in a risky legal position.
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Bob

When I joined the forum I think there were generic conditions, but could these be adapted to cover slander...ie you (the forum member) is liable for anything you write?
